Frogmore spotlighted in book

Frogmore Plantation was featured in a sewing “how-to” book written by television quilting personality Jodie Davis.
The book, “Quilting with Jodie in Cotton Country” features sketches, pictures and stories of Davis’s travels throughout the cotton growing states including the grounds of Frogmore.
Davis hosts an award-winning television show “Friends in the Bee” on the Quilter’s News Network and Stitch TV.
Plantation owner Lynette Tanner said Davis did a wonderful job on the story.
“It’s a nice feature for our part of the Miss-Lou,” Tanner said.
In the article, “Stepping Back in Time at Frogmore Plantation,” Davis writes about her experience seeing the Frogmore General Store, being given a tour by the daughter of a former sharecropper and comparing the old ways of running a plantation to the modern Tanner Gin.
“I was overwhelmed to think of the sheer amount of work it took to provide the necessities on a self-sufficient plantation,” Davis said in the article.
Tanner said she had one complaint with the piece though.
“The picture she took was taken shortly after a rainfall and the cotton looked scraggly,” Tanner said laughing.
Tanner joked and said she plans to send Davis a better photo if the book is ever reprinted.
