A bullet burst through an Adams County roof New Year’s Eve, law enforcement officers said Wednesday.

The bullet, probably from an AK-47, was fired, possibly from two to three miles away, into the air and penetrated the roof of a residence off Redd Loop Road, said Maj. Charles Harrigill of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said.

A group of people “were sitting there, watching TV,” Harrigill said.

Fortunately, no one was injured, but firing guns into the air can be dangerous, he said.

“People don’t realize that what goes up has got to come down, and often they come down about as fast as they’re going up,” Harrigill said.
