NATCHEZ — A man accused of shooting his relative near Riverbreeze Apartments Wednesday has turned himself in to police.
Sharron Thomas, 26, was taken into custody at the Natchez Police Department at approximately 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
Thomas is charged with one count of aggravated assault and is being held at the Natchez City Jail without bond until arraignment.
Thomas allegedly shot Victor Johnson, 29, outside Riverbreeze Apartments Wednesday afternoon following a family argument. Thomas reportedly shot Johnson in the defense of relative James Williams, 21.
Johnson allegedly chased Williams from Riverbreeze Apartments onto North Shields Lane toward the Exxon gas station, firing shots as he ran.
Thomas shot Johnson in the right thigh, and Johnson was transported by ambulance to Natchez Community Hospital, where he was arrested Wednesday evening immediately following his release.
Johnson is also charged with one count of aggravated assault and is being held without bond until arraignment.
Williams faces no criminal charges relating to Wednesday’s incident, however, he was arrested Thursday on charges of disobeying a law enforcement officer. He is being held on $704 bond.
