The Mississippi Department of Health urges residents to start off the New Year right by getting a flu shot.

It’s still not too late to get vaccinated to get protected against Mississippi’s peak flu season.

The state’s flu season typically begins in late December or early January and runs through March, according to a statement released by the health department Thursday.

The Adams County Health Department still has plenty of flu vaccine.

The vaccine costs $27.

Typical symptoms of the flu include fever and respiratory symptoms, such as coughing, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headache and muscle aches.
