Only six more days until Christmas

Six days to go, are you ready?
Don’t panic, just relax and remember the reason for the season. Then think back on the good news you’ve heard in the last week.
The Miss-Lou gives us plenty about which to be jolly. Let’s review:
4 Ferriday teachers are putting technology to work in their classrooms, and students love it. A group of junior high students recently created a few tunes on the school’s iPads, but the music lesson came with a little math on the side. Today’s children are different than we were, and we must encourage teachers who think outside of the box to reach these techie children.
4 Sales tax collections from the month of October improved this year over last. These consistent steps toward greater revenues are key for the city’s coffers and our local economy.
4 Volunteers worked with speed and diligence in Concordia Parish last week to fill more than 200 bags with food and goodies for needy families. We are thankful the Concordia Christmas Fund provides so much to those in need.
4 A Natchez native is now patrolling the streets of nearby Jonesville, with badge and gun in tow. Miranda Clifton is the new chief who is fulfilling a life-long love of law enforcement with her service.
As you scurry toward Christmas this week, please take a few moments to slow down and enjoy what you have and what your community offers. It’s been a great holiday season so far.
