Ferriday man killed in crash

FERRIDAY — One man is dead and a woman is injured after a one-vehicle crash on Louisiana 568 early Friday morning.
Ray G. Pitts, 46, was killed from injuries sustained when he lost control of the 2009 Dodge pickup he was driving. The truck was westbound on the highway when it exited the right side of the roadway, re-entered the highway, exited the left side and eventually overturned. The accident occurred at approximately 2 a.m.
Pitts was not wearing a seat belt, according to a Louisiana State Police release, and was ejected during the crash. He was transported to Riverland Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 6:15 a.m.
His only passenger, Breezy L. Keith, 31, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the crash. She received moderate injuries and was transported to Riverland.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Pitts was a Ferriday resident and a farmer. He is survived by his mother Rena Pitts and three daughters, Elizabeth, Savannah and Victoria Pitts.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Young’s Funeral Home.
