Hinson is deserving recipient of honor

Cathedral High senior Keylann Kordell Hinson has been named Horatio Alger Scholarship recipient for students excelling academically.
The $20,000 scholarship is awarded to only 105 high school students nationwide.
The award presentation will be held April 11-15 during the 2007 Horatio Alger National Scholars Conference in Washington, D.C.
The all-expense-paid trip will afford scholars the unparalleled opportunity for both civic and free enterprise education.
Scholars will attend briefings that are open to few Americans. Speakers are policy makers, entrepreneurs and leaders in American life.
Keylann fulfilled the scholarship’s criteria for demonstration of integrity, self-reliance, determination and perseverance in overcoming adversities.
Keylann is a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students. He is an All American Scolar and has achieved a GPA of 3.5 and an ACT of 26.
He has talen all advanced-placement honors classes and has consistently maintained honor roll status throughout his educational career.
Keylann scored 3 on the College Board Advance Placement Test.
He is presently listed on Cathedral’s A-average honor roll for the fall semester.
Being a recipient of this prestigious award ensures success and support in Keylann’s collegiate career at the University of Mississippi in Oxford.
He is involved in extracurricular activities.
He serves as captain of the Green Wave basketball team and is a member of the track and bowling teams.
He epitomizes school spirit in Cathedral’s Key Club, which encourages community involvement.
Keylann is an active member with Christian Hope Baptist Church under the pastorship of the Rev. John W. Scott Jr.
Keylann is the son of Donald and Bobbie Hinson. And I am his sister.
