Pat Biglane has been chosen as the new Chamber of Commerce board chairman.
The chamber board met Monday, nominated and elected Biglane.
The Concordia Bank President and CEO steps into a role vacated two weeks ago by Stephen Caruthers of Entergy. Caruthers resigned, saying he needed to focus on other things.
“I’m humbled by it, and I really appreciate it,” Biglane said. “We’ve got a great board.”
Biglane, who has been serving on the board for four years, said the chamber would continue to serve the businesses of the area like it always has.
First on the to-do-list is hiring a director to replace Laura Godfrey who resigned in the fall, Biglane said.
But just as important is continuing to serve local businesses.
“I want to achieve the main purpose of the organization, the advancement of commerce and promotion of economic development,” he said.
Personally, Biglane hopes to see a strong push for economic development in the Miss-Lou.
“I want to help in any way possible,” he said. “We want to assist the Economic Development Authority.”
Biglane also stressed that things at the chamber are running smoothly. He thanked Shannon Gatlin and Lindy Cardneaux, both paid employees, for their work and board member Millicent Mayo for leading the board in the time between chairmen.
Biglane also said he wanted to commend Caruthers for the work he did with the board.
