NATCHEZ — The weekend’s events could stimulate the senses of every member of the family.

Living Nativity

The Jefferson Street Methodist Church youth invite the public to experience a living Nativity from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

The Nativity scene will be located on the corner of Jefferson and Union streets in Natchez. It will feature a live donkey and two sheep. Children are invited to interact with the exhibit and pet the animals.

Letta Crocker, youth coordinator at the church, said all youth will be dressed up — wise men, shepherds and of course Mary, Joseph and an angel. Music will accompany the Nativity scene.

Natchez Mall concert

Local vocalist Emerson Hill Jr. will perform live in the Natchez Mall from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Hill, who is the front man of the gospel ground “Changed,” will give a sneak peak of his new solo album.  Pictures and autographs will be available.

Eola Christmas Concert Series

The Eola Hotel will again host vocalists and guests at the third concert of the series from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. today. A local choir will perform Christmas songs, and admission is free. The hotel is located at 110 North Pearl St. in Natchez.

Advent recital

The Trinity Episcopal Church advent recital will be at noon Friday. Sandra Lunte on flute and Vincent Ignatius on piano will present a program of music. This event is free and open to the public. The church is located on Commerce Street in Natchez.

Carriages, Candlelight and Christmas at Magnolia Hall and The Towers

Carriages, Candlelight and Christmas, Magnolia Hall and The Towers on Friday is the an event that consists of two performances, combining elegance, romance and traditional Christmas decorations at Magnolia Hall, followed by a glamorous Jeweled Christmas at The Towers. Doors to Magnolia Hall open at 4 p.m. for the first tour at 4:15,  and at 5:15 pm for the second tour at 5:30.

Fellowship Choir

The Greater Miss-Lou Fellowship Choir will have its Christmas program at 6:30 p.m. Friday at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Ferriday. The public is welcome.

Historic Jefferson College open house

Enjoy punch and cookies while viewing more than 20 Christmas trees decorated by area children from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Historic Jefferson College.

Christmas concert

David Troy Francis will perform a Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Natchez.

The concert will benefit the CASA children’s advocacy program. The critically acclaimed pianist performs frequently in recitals throughout the world.

The public is welcome. The church is located at 400 State St. in Natchez.

Nutt Family Christmas

Longwood will host a Christmas tour from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, with eight docents in costume portraying members of the Nutt family, with delightful holiday refreshments at the end of the tour.

Tours will begin on arrival, with the last tour beginning at 8:30. Tickets are $15 for adults 19 and older and $6 for youth ages 6 through 18 and will be available at Natchez Pilgrimage tours at the Visitor Center, or 601-446-6631, and online at www.natchezpilgrimage.com or www.nptshop.com and at Longwood.

Natchez Blues Christmas Jam

The Natchez Blues Christmas Jam will be at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Under-the-Hill Saloon, located at 25 Silver St.

Eric Glatzer is coordinating the event.

“It’s a real live blues jam,” Glatzer said. “We invite all local musicians to sit in with each other. Jams are usually fairly magical — individual musicians are playing because they love it, and really nice things happen. You might hear music you won’t hear elsewhere.”

Glatzer said musicians bring their best to show out and network with each other. Players should just show up with their instruments and check in with the emcee. Each group will play three or four songs.

“It’s a musical lovers paradise,” Glatzer said. “If you want to hear some really good music, this is the place to come. It’s music at its finest.”

Ministerial Alliance Christmas Gala

The Tri-Parish Ministerial Alliance of Concordia, Catahoula and Tensas parishes will host its annual Christmas Gala at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Harvest Baptist Church on Lakeshore Drive in Ferriday.

Dinner will be served with entertainment. A $15 donation will be taken at the door. Door prizes will be given. This is a coat-and-tie affair.

“A Natchez Christmas Carol”

Natchez Little Theatre is presenting ongoing performances of “A Christmas Carol” with a Natchez twist. Show times are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
