The Natchez Chapter of the Links, Inc., has slated Saturday, April 24 as the date for The Cavalcade of Presidents, Champagne Reception and Smorgasbord honoring African American organizations in the Miss-Lou.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center, 112 Front St.
The program will highlight the historical significance of African American organizations in improving the quality of life and circumstances of people of color in the Miss-Lou and throughout the United States. The chief executive officer of each participating organization will be presented and will receive special recognition in an August procession — The Cavalcade of Presidents.
The Cavalcade of Presidents is the culminating event for the Directory of African American Organizations in the Miss-Lou 2010, the first edition, compiled by the Natchez Chapter of the Links, Inc.
The directory is a project designed to promote public awareness of the presence, structure and impact of African American organizations of the Miss-Lou.
The officers, members and contact persons for 40 organizations are listed in the directory.
Tickets for The Cavalcade of Presidents are $30 and may be purchased from participating organizations, members of the Links or at Todd Medical Clinic, 500 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St.

The Natchez Chapter of the Links, Inc., organized in 1986, is an ongoing contributor to numerous local, state, national and international projects and programs.
The organization’s greatest contribution to an institution of higher learning was made in 2007 to the Alcorn State University Foundation in the amount of $9,000.
