Farmers and other vendors have an outlet for their products at the Natchez Farmers Market, corner of Main and Rankin streets, said Director Helen Brooks.

“We’re launching a campaign seeking farmers and vendors for the market,” Brooks said. “We want to provide an additional marketing venue for local entrepreneurs to display and sell their items.”

Brooks said the market seeks farmers with fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables and fresh, locally grown organic fruits and vegetables.

The market also wants to bring in vendors who have products such as handmade quilts, candles and woodcarvings as well as paintings and other artwork, including musical works on CDs.

“We’re also interested in unique Southern recipes,” Brooks said.

The vendors will be responsible for their own display equipments, signs and pricing. Vendors may monitor their displays at a $5 a day fee or they can have the market manager monitor and sell their items for a fee of 15 percent of total sales.

More information is available by calling Brooks at 601-442-4648 or by coming by the market and speaking with her in person.

The market is also seeking businesses, profit and nonprofit organizations, churches and clubs to use the adjacent lawn area as rental space for fundraisers, competitions, parties and picnics.
