VIDALIA — Finding a parking space at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center will become a breeze within the next few weeks.

An additional parking lot is being constructed next to the center to provide additional spaces for visitors.

Vidalia Mayor Hyram Copeland said the center has been using Promise Hospital’s parking for quite some time and the need for more parking for the center was vital.

“Our conferences and conventions are getting larger and therefore we need additional parking,” Copeland said. “It’s a good project and definitely something we need.”

The lot is being constructed with excess sales tax funds that were transferred into the road and drainage fund.

Copeland said he hopes the lot will be finished within three to four weeks, depending on the weather.
