VIDALIA — The Vidalia High Baseball Classic didn’t exactly turn out the way head coach Craig Beesley was expecting. The Green Wave finished 1-2 after losing to the Gators Saturday afternoon to fall to 8-3 overall.
False River of New Roads, La., scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning thanks to four walks and three hit batters. In fact, the Gators won the game despite getting just one hit off Cathedral pitcher Cole Mann — a double by K. Trabma.
Cathedral didn’t fare much better at the plate. The Green Wave was held to just three hits by winning pitcher T. Guillory. They were limited to just one each in the top of the second, third and fourth innings.
