Alcorn State University could have a new president on April 3.
The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning met last week to conduct final interviews for the position left vacant last year after Clinton Bristow’s sudden death.
The next step in the process will come on April 3 when the board announces a preferred candidate on the Lorman campus.
That day, selected campus groups will be given the chance to interview the candidate.
“Alcorn community members will have the opportunity to participate and at the end of the day they will review and make an announcement,” IHL media spokeswoman Jennifer Rogers said.
The announcement could include the naming of the new president, or it may say search committees will continue looking, Rogers said.
“It’s no promise there will be a decision made,” she said.
The process to find Bristow’s replacement began in September when the IHL formed a committee of representatives from across the state to lead the search.
The group drafted a job description and formed a search advisory committee of Alcorn representatives.
Applications were accepted through December.
Bristow died in August of a heart attack after 11 years at ASU.
