The field will be packed for the 14th annual Chamber Golf Scramble, slated for today at Beau Pré Country Club.
“We’ve got 100 players with a waiting list of five. We didn’t think we would have so many players so soon,” Shannon Gatlin of the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce said.
Gatlin said the limit set for teams was filled, and that the chamber has been very pleased with the turnout.
“It’s our biggest event of the year, besides our big dinner. It’s a time where people can get away from the business week and meet with people they may have not seen in a week or a month,” she said. “It is also a big fundraising event that helps fund the tournament for next year, and it is a time that we promote our businesses as well.”
Lunch for the players begins at 11:30 a.m., and the shotgun start for the 25 four-man teams is set for 1 p.m. Following the tournament, there will be a business after hours event, where trophies will be awarded to the participants.
Gatlin said all chamber members are invited to attend the business afterhours event, and strongly encourages them to come.
“It will be a great opportunity for networking,” she said.
