Lady Bears slam Norwood

Block spotted Northwood-Lena an early 1-0 lead before scoring seven runs in the bottom of the third inning en route to an 11-1 win Thursday afternoon in a District 3-1A game.
Northwood-Lena (0-10, 0-2) scored its only run of the game in the top of the second inning. That was the only bright spot of the game for the Lady Gators, who managed just one hit off winning pitcher Misty Davis.
Lacinda Warren had Northwood-Lena’s only hit, which brought in the team’s only run.
Block (7-9, 2-1) did its damage from the third inning on after being held scoreless in the first two innings. The Lady Bears ended the game early by scoring one run in the bottom of the fourth inning and three in the bottom of the fifth.
Abby Reeves led Block at the plate as she went 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored two runs. Sarah McEntyre was 1-for-1 and scored a run.
Block will play its third game in five days today at 4 p.m. when it hits the road to take on district foe Montgomery.
Kilbourne-Monterey game postponed
MONTEREY — Thursday’s game between the Kilbourne Lady Hawks and the Monterey Lady Wolves was postponed because Kilbourne didn’t show up.
Instead, the District 3-B rivals will end up playing each other at Monterey on Tuesday, April 3 at 4 p.m. – one day after the same two teams meet at Kilbourne, La., also at 4 p.m.
Monterey will play in the Grace Christian Tournament today and Saturday.
