VIDALIA — Issues concerning Riverland Medical Center were discussed in executive session for an hour during a special meeting of the Concordia Parish Police Jury meeting Monday.
Police Jury President Melvin Ferrington said the meeting was closed to the public because the jury was discussing legal strategy.
After concluding executive session, Ferrington made a brief statement in regular session before adjourning the special meeting.
“We called this meeting because we felt there were issues to be addressed with the hospital,” Ferrington said. “I think we accomplished that.”
While exact details were not addressed, Ferrington said the issues dealt with prisoners receiving medical care at the hospital.
“It’s hurting our general fund, and it’s something we’re going to have to address,” Ferrington said.
The police jury will have its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12.
