Burns Pottery raises more than $10,000 for the Stewpot

Burns Pottery raised $10,750 for the Natchez Community Stewpot during February Empty Bowls benefit.

The Empty Bowls benefit combined the studio artists of Burns Pottery, the Natchez Stewpot, handmade pottery and great food; all coming together for a great reason — to help feed the hungry in our community.

All the proceeds went directly to the Natchez Community Stewpot to serve the hungry in the Natchez Community.

The Natchez Community Stewpot faithfully serves the hungry in the Natchez Community and is always in need of resources and assistance. The Stewpot serves 250 meals a day to those in need. They not only have the stewpot facility, but deliver prepared meals to those in need directly to their home.

Conner Burns (owner of Burns Pottery and benefit sponsor), Amanda Jeansonne (local artist and administrator of the 2007 empty bowls benefit) and the studio members of Burns Pottery thank all those that purchased tickets, donated money, resources and time to make this a successful fundraiser for the Natchez Community Stewpot. Louis Gunning (director of the stewpot) also expressed his appreciation in helping the Stewpot continue with their important efforts. The annual budget of the stewpot is only $55,000 a year, which has to pay for facility maintenance, food and cooking supplies.

The Natchez Community Stewpot operates because of the generosity of the Natchez community. If anyone would like to donate financially, volunteer their time or learn more about the Stewpot, they are invited to contact the Stewpot.
