The Vikings took little time in asserting themselves as the team to beat in District 4-2A with a big win over the Panthers Monday afternoon in five innings.
Trey Brasher went all five innings on the mound for Vidalia (14-9, 1-0) as he struck out 10, gave up just four hits and walked none.
The Vikings scored two runs in each of the first three innings before exploding for six runs in the top of the fourth inning. Brasher helped his cause in a big way with a three-run triple and Shayne Knapp hit a two-run home run.
Will Thomas went 2-for-2 with a double and Jake Deweese was also 2-for-2 as Vidalia ended up with eight hits in the game. Lake Providence (6-10, 0-1), on the other hand, had no extra-base hits and no multiple hitters.
