Hounds to get new press box

Huntington is nearing completion of its new concession stand, bathrooms and press box for its baseball field.
“We have a beautiful baseball field, a great coach and great kids. This will complete our baseball facilities,” Kim Boothe said.
Boothe helped get the ball rolling on the new press box after hearing that the old one was in bad condition, and had multiple leaks and termites. After attending a board meeting, Boothe said she and others sought out to help build a new press box.
“We got people interested and excited about it,” she said.
Boothe said the project began approximately six weeks ago, and numerous businesses and individuals have donated money as well as their free time to help build the new building.
“We had great help in the volunteer department. There have been a lot of gifted people helping us out that specialize in this kind of work,” she said.
Currently the finishing touches are being added to the bottom floor of the press box that will house the concession stand and bathrooms. Boothe said the bottom floor of the building will open next week.
“We’re getting close,” she said.
Boothe said the upstairs, which will include air conditioning, is not far from completion. She said unlike the old baseball press box that was made out of wood, the new one is constructed out of metal and is built to last.
“We are going to enjoy this for a long time,” she said.
