Jonathan White allowed just one run and four hits while Corey Dickerson hit two doubles as the Brookhaven Academy Cougars defeated the Centreville Tigers 9-1 in Saturday afternoon baseball action.
It didn’t take long for Brookhaven Academy to assert itself as the Cougars scored three runs in the top of the first inning and three more in the top of the second.
The Cougars built up a 7-0 lead before Centreville (4-15) scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Brad Jelks was the majority of the Tigers’ offense, as he went 2-for-3 with a double.
Dickerson finished 2-for-4 on the day as did T-Boy Lynch, who also had a double for Brookhaven Academy, which had eight hits.
Earlier in the week, Centreville lost all three games in its District 5-AA series with fifth-ranked Central Private to fall to 1-6 in district play.
