Shake off your turkey stupor; it’s time to get back to reality.
We hope you had a great Thanksgiving week, but now it’s time to welcome December, get ready for Christmas and enjoy our great community.
The holiday season started off with a bang — even though rain delayed the fireworks — last week. Let’s review some of the good news from the week.
— The community gathered in Natchez and Vidalia for community Thanksgiving services. Thank you to those who organized these services. It’s great to be able to gather with our friends and give thanks.
— The Natchez downtown Christmas tree is lit, and a string of Christmas in Natchez events made the weekend a fun one. Congratulations to those who won in the turkey gumbo cook-off and the turkey trot races.
— Volunteers packed the small kitchen at the Stewpot Thursday to help serve plates to those in need. We are lucky to live in a community in which residents care about others.
— Crowds packed local stores Friday, kicking off the holiday shopping season. We hope sales are big for local retailers.
— The Vidalia High School Key Club has been hard at work in its first year of service. The teens have been volunteering their time for school improvement projects and raising money to fuel future efforts.
As we enter the Christmas season, we want to thank all of those who have worked so hard to light up Natchez and Vidalia, plan events and make this season a bit merrier for all of us.
