After giving up two runs in the first inning, Monterey went on a tear in the third, fourth and fifth innings as the Wolves 10-run ruled the Bulldogs Monday afternoon in a game that was originally scheduled for last Thursday.
Monterey finished with just five hits, but they took advantage of five Harrisonburg errors. Austin Lipsey and Jon Lipsey each had a double for the Wolves.
After the first inning, the Bulldogs did not play like the ninth-ranked team in Class C. They allowed the Wolves to score four runs in the top of the third and fourth innings and five more runs in the top of the fifth.
After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, Harrisonburg did not score again until the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Bulldogs did not score enough runs to keep the game going.
Monterey, which finished in second place in District 3-B, will hit the road to play the Castor Tigers, the runner-up in District 1-B, in the bi-district round of the LHSAA Class B playoffs Thursday at 4 p.m.
