The Vidalia Vikings finally know who they will be hosting Thursday at 5 p.m. in the bi-district round of the LHSAA Class 2A Baseball Playoffs.
Vidalia, 20-10 and the champion in District 4-2A, will take on the 13-12 Many Tigers, a wild-card team after finishing in third place in the tough District 3-2A.
Despite finishing in third place in District 4-2A after a controversial extra-inning loss to Lake Providence last Saturday, the Ferriday Trojans made the playoffs as a wild-card team despite a 4-14 overall record.
Now comes the tough part — hitting the road to Alexandria, La., to take on the Menard Eagles Thursday, the top-ranked team in Class 2A and the District 3-2A.
No starting time was available for the Ferriday-Menard game.
After falling just short against LaSalle to finish in third place in District 3-1A, the 13-14 Block Bears will travel to Monroe, La., to take on District 2-1A champion and third-ranked St. Frederick in the Class 1A bi-district round. That game will take place Thursday at 6 p.m.
A pair of second-place teams will take on each other in the bi-district round of the Class B playoffs Thursday at 4 p.m. The Monterey Wolves, runners-up in District 3-B, travel to Castor, La., to take on the District 1-B runner-up Castor Tigers.
