CASTOR, La. — Monterey pitcher Trey King gave up six runs in seven innings, but allowed just three hits as the Wolves pulled away for an 11-6 win over the Tigers in the bi-district round of the LHSAA Class B Playoffs.
Monterey, the runner-up in District 3-B, erased an early 2-0 deficit by scoring 11 runs before Castor, the runner-up in District 1-B, could score again. The Wolves exploded for eight runs in the top of the fourth inning that gave them a commanding 11-3 lead.
King also helped his cause with a pair of hits in the game while Jon Lipsey and Billy Metcalf each had a double for Monterey, which will take on the winner of the Converse-Choudrant game in the regional round early next week.
