Leaders should understand prison

I read in The Natchez Democrat last week that the board of supervisors voted on something to do with the city’s proposed sewer to the CCA prison facility. Then the supervisors are expressing concerns about matching funds they might have to be responsible for.
Why do you vote “yes” on something for which you are not fully aware of the consequences? Is that a responsible way to represent your taxpayer voters? I say, no it is not.
Secondly, one supervisor was quoted as saying he hopes the waterworks can come up with the matching funds. Excuse me, but doesn’t that supervisor even have a clue?
The Natchez Democrat has reported multiple times that the waterworks needs a rate increase for what they are now providing. The director, Mr. David Gardner, was crying because the board of aldermen had not acted on his request.
The board of aldermen and Sen. Bob Dearing have let the city waterworks customers down big time and ultimately will cost these customers lots of money.
The supervisors have let the county residents down big time and ultimately will cost all the county residents big time because of matching funds (increased taxes) or annexation of county property into the city!
Lastly, CCA has 65 facilities in the United States and three already in Mississippi. None of the three in Mississippi are on any kind of city sewer system. How come the one in Adams County has to be? Mr. Dearing and Rep. Robert Johnson did not do any research or they did not care — which is it?
Voters be aware of these facts when you vote in the fall!
