Graduations highlight good news

Until now, the seniors at three local high schools and two colleges have been the leaders of tomorrow.
Tomorrow is today.
Monterey, Ferriday and Vidalia high schools, Alcorn State University and Copiah-Lincoln Community College had graduation ceremonies this week, sending their students into the world.
Five more high schools will have commencement ceremonies in the coming weeks, but these life memories aren’t the only good things happening in the Miss-Lou this month.
Let’s review the good news of last week.
The Natchez skyline is different now. The wood frames of two new Canal Street hotels jut above their surroundings and symbolize hope for the future. Hotel developers are confident their rooms will be filled, meaning good things for our economy-sustaining tourism industry.
Ferriday’s Delta Music Museum will host a bit of Washington, D.C., arts in 2008. A Smithsonian music exhibit is coming, complete with zydeco spoons.
Postal workers spent Saturday carrying an extra load in their mailbags. The U.S. Postal Service employees collected non-perishable food items for the local food pantry. The annual service project will surely keep pantry shelves stocked for days to come.
As graduations continue and school winds down for the summer, we are sure the good news will keep coming in the Miss-Lou.
