PORT GIBSON — Led by Rajee McDonald and Andreemae Stick, Port Gibson had too many good shooters for Jefferson County to contain, and it showed in this game between longtime rivals.

McDonald finished with a game-high 17 points and Stick had 15 points to lead a balanced scoring attack as the Lady Blue Waves doubled up the Lady Tigers 90-45 Friday night.

Port Gibson, one of the top teams in Class 4A, dominated Jefferson County on both ends of the court, and trying to keep up with the Lady Blue Waves’ array of talent eventually wore down the Lady Tigers. At the end of the first quarter, Port Gibson had a 27-7 lead and never looked back.

The Lady Tigers will have next week off before hosting Class 4A Tylertown on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Monterey 40, Harrisonburg 21

HARRISONBURG, La. — Harrisonburg had no answer for Monterey’s Reagan Tiffee, who led all scorers with 18 points as the Lady Wolves took care of the Lady Bulldogs Friday night to remain undefeated.

Monterey’s defense in the first half was also a factor in this game. The Lady Wolves held Harrisonburg to just two points in the first quarter en route to a 16-2 lead and then outscored the Lady Bulldogs 11-7 in the second quarter for a commanding 27-9 advantage at the half.

Ellen Bairnsfather had eight points for Monterey (6-0). Erica Cater led Harrisonburg (0-4) with 14 points.

The Lady Wolves don’t play again until Tuesday, Nov. 29 when they play at LaSalle.

Harrisonburg 26

HARRISONBURG, La. — After getting off to an 0-2 start to the season, the Monterey Wolves have been on a roll as of late. And that continued Friday night at Harrisonburg.

Dillon Smith led the way for Monterey with a game-high 20 points and Hayden Cassels added 13 points as the Wolves handily defeated the Bulldogs 65-26 for third win in their last four games.

This game was pretty much over with early on. The Bulldogs had a difficult time when they had the ball against the Wolves’ defense. And by the time the first quarter was over, Monterey was ahead 23-3 and the Wolves never looked back from there.

Matthew Humphries and Brett Wright added eight points each for Monterey (3-3). Harrisonburg was led by Trey Nugent with nine points.
