Mrs. Sartin was born June 23, 1912, in Lincoln County, the youngest child of O. Frank Keene and Alice McGuffie Keene. She was a graduate of East Lincoln High School and Copiah-Lincoln Junior College with an AA degree in Home Economics. She married W. Frank Sartin of Lincoln County and to this union three children were born, Myrtis Virginia, Judith Adelle and Walter “Buddy” Lynwood.

In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed by Stahl Urban Manufacturing Company, McComb Manufacturing Company, Kings Daughters Hospital and retired from Brook Manor Nursing Home as director of food services.

During her retirement years, the focus of her life was doing for others. She baked and delivered to others countless cookies and other confections. Also shared with others were the Upper Room devotional booklet, Sunday school books and the daily paper. She received a number of awards for community service including (more than one year) the Outstanding Community Service Award from the Lincoln County Homemakers Clubs and in 1999, she was awarded the Exchange Club’s Golden Deeds Award for Brookhaven and Lincoln County. Considered and designated “a spunky little lady” she kept her focus in life straight ahead.

She was preceded in death by her father when she was 10 days old; her mother and stepfather, Hampton Huhn; her husband; two sisters, Frankie Keene McGraw and Mae Keene Wilson; and three brothers, Andy Lee Keene, Gene Keene and Charles Huhn.

Survivors include three children, Virginia Sartin Salmon of Natchez, Judy Sartin Adams and husband, Gerald, of Brandon and Buddy Sartin and wife, Connie, of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Amelia V.
