NATCHEZ — A pair of brothers wants to start manufacturing fence-laying equipment in the Miss-Lou.

Inventor Sam Albritton, of Lumberton, and his brother Ronald, an Adams County resident, hope to find a manufacturer and distributor in the Miss-Lou.

Sam Albritton, head of Albritton Fence Dispensing Company, is touting his inventions in two classes: that which can be used by farmers and that which can be used by the military.

The domestic fence wire-laying machine is already in use in five states, Albritton said.

“I am a farmer, and that’s where the idea came from,” he said. “I was putting up a fence and I thought, ‘There’s got to be an easier way.’ Every farmer’s dream is an easier way and less costly.”

The other machine, geared toward military use, is aimed at helping soldiers lay out razor wire.

In a way, that machine has been field-tested, he said. Harrison County contracted Albritton to lay razor wire to secure areas after Hurricane Katrina came through.

Albritton is working with retired Gen. Joe Spraggins to market the machines to the military, he said.

Spraggins said his consulting firm started working with Albritton the first of this month.

Neither Spraggins nor Albritton would say with whom in the military they were working.

Ronald Albritton, who is also running for a county supervisor position in this fall’s county elections, said he couldn’t disclose names.

“It’s Pentagon material,” he said.

The brothers have performed demonstrations at trade shows and recently in a parking lot along U.S. 61 in town.

If they get someone to produce, distribute and buy the machines, they’ll be millionaires, Sam Albritton said.

But that’s not the reason they’re in it, he said.

“This is not a commercial,” he said. “It’s about getting the (military-geared) machines to Homeland Security and the men in Iraq. You can’t put a price on life.”
