NATCHEZ — The Miss-Lou’s largest online news site became even bigger Saturday.
After months of work, Natchez Newspapers launched a redesigned news and information Web site Saturday evening, giving online readers more local news content than ever before available.
The new site, a news partnership with The Natchez Democrat, is located at: www.natchezdemocrat.com.
With an average of nearly 1 million monthly page views, the existing site was created in 1999 and has been updated each day since its inception.
The new site features a more modern design as well as much more local content and online-only features.
New content available includes all local news items such as Tracings, crime reports, weddings, engagements, court records, school news and extra photographs many of which will be available only online.
In addition the site will include all of the local opinions expressed in The Democrat’s print edition, including Top of the Mornings, letters to the editor and the staff-generated editorials and columns.
The site will also feature interactive tools that will allow readers to comment on stories as well as receive electronic reminders for items appearing in Tracings. Users can register for free and can subscribe to receive breaking news alerts by e-mail or set up a custom search alert. Custom search alerts will send a user an e-mail when content of interest to the user is added to the site.
Audio and video features will be added to the site in the days ahead.
