GLOSTER — Services for Veaster “Blade” Monroe, 65, of Gloster, who dies Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. today at Sharon Chapel.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mr. Monroe was born March 27, 1946, in Amite County, the son of Willie Lee Upton.

He was preceded in death by his mother and son, Reginald Moore.

Survivors include wife, Mattie Monroe; two sons, Jimmy Brown and wife, Loretta, and Jerry Monroe; adopted son, Harry Williams; four daughters, Sonya Anderson, Dionne Monroe, Annie Mae and Monique Huff; two grandsons, Henry Anderson III and Jimmy Brown Jr.; four granddaughters, Tynesha Tickles, Kiara Brown, Ja’Myra Downs and Arnicia Boss; two brothers, Wilbert Monroe and wife, Alice, and Jessie Monroe and wife, Mary; two sisters, Bertha McGhee and Geneva Monroe; mother-in-law, Mae W. Brown; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
