NATCHEZ — The Vidalia 9- and 10-year-old All-Stars extended their winning streak to three when they beat Catahoula 12-0 in the Dixie Youth Sub-District tournament Tuesday night.
Christopher White set it off in the first inning with his third home run of the tournament, scoring two runs.
“It felt good,” White said. “I am stacking them up at my house.”
Starting pitcher Cole Cupit pitched two and one-third innings, striking out five batters before being relieved by William Handjis.
“We have saved our pitching,” head coach Whest Shirley said.
Vidalia extended their lead in the second, scoring six runs off of four hits and cushioned their lead in the fourth with four runs.
Catahoula was unable to score allowing Vidalia to win by the 10-run run.
Vidalia pitchers Cupit and Handjis struck out eight batters and allowed two hits.
“These guys don’t quit,” said Shirley. “Our pitching has been strong all week and we’ve had clutch hits all around.”
They face Ferriday in the championship game Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Vidalia Dixie Youth Baseball fields.
“We are going to have our hands full with Ferriday,” Shirley said.
