WOODVILLE — There would be no letdown for the Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels after winning all three games at their own Tip-Off Tournament.

With the press defense in full effect, ACCS made it tough for Wilkinson County Christian Academy to not only take shots, but to even get a pass down the court without it resulting in a turnover.

Thanks to a big first quarter on both ends of the court, ACCS cruised to a 59-26 victory over the outmatched Lady Rams Tuesday night to stay undefeated on the season.

Defense led to easy fast-break baskets for the Lady Rebels throughout the first half as they jumped out to a 30-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and when halftime arrived they were ahead 47-10.

Tori Laird finished with 15 points to lead ACCS. Nikki Worthy scored 12 points and Jessica Reynolds chipped in with 11 points. Terri Fisher was the only play for WCCA (1-2) to score in double figures as she ended up with a game-high 16 points. However, only two other Lady Rams players were in the scoring column.

ACCS (4-0) travels to St. Joseph, La. to take on Tensas Academy on Thursday. WCCA will next play at the Amite School Center Tournament in Liberty on Nov. 15, 17 & 19. WCCA’s games at Silliman that were originally scheduled for Friday have been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10 due to the Rams’ football team being in the MAIS Class A South State Playoffs.

Natchez High 57, Warren Central 29

VICKSBURG — This battle between MHSAA Class 6A teams turned into a rout by Natchez High before halftime had arrived and the result was an easy win for the Lady Bulldogs over the Warren Central Lady Vikings Tuesday night.

Natchez High’s defense made it difficult for Warren Central to get a shot off and that led to several easy transition baskets. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs led the Lady Vikings 13-4.

In the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs were even more dominant on both ends of the court and there was very little the Lady Vikings could do about it. By the time the first half was over, Natchez High (2-0) had a 34-8 lead. Warren Central played better in the second half, but it was still outscored by Natchez High a combined 23-21.

Ashley Minor led the Lady Bulldogs with a game-high 20 points while Marquita Wallace had 12 points and Keyana Miller added 11 points.

Natchez High will next play at Wilkinson County on Thursday. Natchez High was scheduled to host Lawrence County that day, but because Wilkinson County’s football team is still in the Class 3A South State Playoffs, the Natchez High-Wilkinson County games that were originally scheduled for Friday night were rescheduled.

Monterey 49,

Harrisonburg 26

MONTEREY, La. — Ellen Bairnsfather scored a game-high 13 points as the Monterey Lady Wolves defeated the Harrisonburg Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night for their third straight win.

A smothering defense in the first and third quarters as well as a balanced scoring attack were the keys to Monterey’s victory. The Lady Wolves outscored Harrisonburg 16-3 in the opening quarter and 10-2 in the third quarter.

Kaley Baker and Kristen Russell each contributed with eight points and Reagan Tiffee scored seven points for the Lady Wolves.

Monterey (3-1) plays at Georgetown on Thursday.
