Carter, Butler win at polls

NATCHEZ — David Carter has resoundingly defeated two-term incumbent Henry Watts at the polls in District 2.
A total of 680 absentee votes plus affidavit ballots remain uncounted, but not all 680 of those will be from District 2.
Carter has 60.6 percent of the vote, or 1,306 votes. Watts has 39.4 percent of the vote or 849 votes. All four District 2 precincts are reporting.
In District 5, Calvin Butler has a significant lead over Grady “Cookie” Wilson, with absentees and affidavits uncounted.
Butler has 57.5 percent of the vote or 1,436 votes. Wilson has 42.5 percent or 1,063 votes. All four District 5 precincts are reporting.
