For some, needs of others takes back seat

We in the United States take great pride in our independence.
We become excited when our children take their first steps. We teach our children to be independent and responsible people. Most of us are compassionate people and recognize that sometimes people need assistance to maintain their independence. Handicap parking is one of the ways we allow people to maintain their independence. Most of us are compassionate and responsible individuals that respect the need for handicap parking.
However, there are a few self absorbed people that feel their convenience is more important than the needs of others. This appears to be the case at the downtown Natchez post office. I recently asked someone if she knew she was parked in the handicap parking. She told me “yes I can read.” I sincerely hope that either she nor a member of her family ever needs to depend on the kindness of others to maintain their independence, but if they do I hope no one treats them with the same disregard.
Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion.
