Get ready for Comm-UNITY project

I’m reminded of a beautiful song that seemingly soothes my spirit whenever I think about unity and oneness. The lyrics go a little something like this: (When reciting, make the words personal, referring to yourself as you get it into your heart, soul and spirit.)

“I need you, you need me; we’re all a part of God’s body. Stand with me; agree with me; we’re all a part of God’s body. It is His will that every need be supplied, you are important to me. I need you to survive. I pray for you; you pray for me. I love you; I need you to survive. I won’t harm you with words from my mouth; I love you; I need you to survive.”

The chorus of that song is a warm-up and has been adopted by our group as the community’s theme song as we prepare to unite and involve the entire community for the first Comm-UNITY Creative Art’z Christmas Project.

Lights! Camera! Action! Natchez and all surrounding areas, prepare with us as Elohim Productions writer and director, Calvin Beasly, presents the Comm-UNITY Christmas Stageplay Production.

The event will be hosted and sponsored by The Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church family. Christian Hope is pastored by the Rev. John Scott.

Our ministry has produced the annual “Passion of the Cross,” “Please, Don’t Drive Me Away,” “I told the Storm,” “If Loving Him is Wrong, I don’t Wanna be Right,” “Be Careful what you Pray for,” and many more productions.

We use this method as a form of invitation, as well as a casting call to the entire community, church ministries, city officials, businesses, associations, musicians, actors, singers and more to participate in the first annual Performing Art’z Ministry Project.

This Christmas project is an endeavor for everyone to come together and celebrate the birth of Christ, the true reason for the season.

This project is also a way of celebrating the Christmas spirit with community involvement. This community activity is a great way of promoting the Christian performing arts.

The groundwork and foundation has been laid by various organizations in their efforts and labor to unify the community. We are a branch to continue the effort to assist in bringing the community together for a holiday community gathering in the form of a stage play.

This Christmas comedy, titled “Guest, who’s coming to Christmas Dinner,” is a play about the Vanderwolfs, a wealthy and estranged family, separated for many years due to past family issues and unforgiving thoughts. The family decides to come back to the Vanderwolf mansion for Christmas. Though the Vanderwolfs are fighting their own family demons, they must find a way to set aside their differences because they’ve been chosen, by the Adopt-a-Family for Christmas Society to host dinner for an under privileged family that won a contest. The contest rules allowed for two invited guests, but the winners brought their entire family.

As the Vanderwolfs continue to relive past hurts, drama and pain, behind closed doors, the guests bring a barrel of laughs to the table along with a word of hope, peace, joy and the true meaning of the season.

These guests may be slack in funds, proper table etiquette and manners, but they’re rich in love, unity and the gift of family tradition.

The guests may be the Christmas miracle and answered prayer the Vanderwolfs have been seeking to unite their family after all of those years.

This will be a December for the Miss-Lou community to remember.

We invited the entire community to mark your calendars for 6 p.m., Dec. 9 for this Christian, Christmas musical comedy.

Anyone who wants to be included in the production can call 601-807-9973 or 601-445-5995 to signup. Let’s continue to pray for our town, other communities, all sanctuaries, pastors, leaders, schools, youth and each other.

Until we meet, may each and everyone of us be abundantly blessed.
