WASHINGTON, D.C. —Congressman Chip Pickering announces three USDA Rural Development projects funded in the Third Congressional District for Wilkinson, Winston and Noxubee counties.
“These USDA Rural Development funds allow local communities to address specific needs from quality of life issues like clean water and healthcare infrastructure, to law enforcement and fire response,” Pickering said.
In Wilkinson County, an USDA Water and Waste Disposal loan of $231,000 and a grant of $689,600 will go to the Old River Water Association for the construction of a 100,000 gallon elevated storage tank and a 300 gallons per minute water well.
This will supplement the existent storage capacity for the current system and reduce treatment cost.
The project will provide healthier and more sanitary water for the 1136 current users and allow for a few additional users.
USDA Rural Development Mississippi is dedicated to providing programs to rural communities and individuals to promote economic and community growth including housing, community facilities, utility systems, and business and economic growth.
