TWENTY YEARS AGO — A relative newcomer to Natchez, Jesselyn Reed makes herself feel right at home as she defeats 14-year-old Meredith Brown in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, to win the girls singles championship at the City Junior Tennis Championships at Duncan Park.

TEN YEARS AGO — Beau Smith of Gloster shoots a round of 4-over-par 76 to win the Boys’ 15-18 age division by six shots over Christopher Martin and Jonathon Hailey wins the Boys’ 12-14 age division at the Natchez Junior Golf Championship at Duncan Park.

FIVE YEARS AGO — Run-scoring doubles by Tiffany Ferguson, Lauren Wagoner, Lindsay Wagoner, Kristyn Lovett and Emily Hazlip give Ferriday a 5-2 lead in the fifth inning, but Tennessee rallies in the sixth to take an 8-5 win over the Gators to win the Dixie Debs World Series.
