NATCHEZ — New Hope Missionary Baptist Church’s Young K Connection Day Camp ended recently with a back to school bash.
Joy and excitement were found on the faces of over 200 children this summer during the program for youth who were impacted by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma.
The camp was funded by The National American Red Cross a qualified partner in recovery due to its extensive experience in responding to major national disasters, the Foundation For The Mid South a regional foundation that has provided over $10 million in grants to nonprofits, individuals, families and other programs for hurricane relief and recovery and World Vision, the leader, in outreach to the worlds underserved children.
Camp concluded with the back to school bash, an annual event spearheaded by Co-Pastor Brenda Searcy of New Hope, this event served over 1,000 underprivileged children with back packs, school supplies, hair cuts and braids, sponsored in part by committed community supporters, partners and friends.
“I’m so glad we were able to provide this summer activity program for the children,” Searcy said. “It was a way for them to get away and just be kids again. I know this will have a lasting impact on their lives just it has impacted ours.
