NATCHEZ — A Food Network show that filmed along the Mississippi River this summer will premier the segment featuring Natchez at 8 p.m. today.
In “Feasting on Asphalt 2,” host Alton Brown travels the country looking for the most interesting food.
In Natchez, he stopped at The Donut Shop, Natchez State Park and Club 601 on Martin Luther King Street.
Brown’s visit to Natchez coincided with the Natchez Bluff Blues Festival in late April.
There, Brown found blues and fried catfish at Club 601. He visited with cooks and customers.
“We figured with blues and catfish, you can’t go wrong,” he said at the time.
Brown said he and his crew were looking for the authentic on the road instead of just restaurant chains.
In Saturday’s episode, the crew also visits the Coca Cola museum in Vicksburg and stop for fried chicken in Lorman. In Greenville, they dig into a meal of pork and pancakes.
The crew started out in south Louisiana, on the coast, and traveled up the Mississippi River to Minnesota.
Before reaching Natchez, the crew stopped in New Orleans, Hammond, Vacherie and LaPlace, La.
After Natchez, they rolled on to Memphis and St. Louis.
The series premiered Aug. 4. The show will run through Sept. 8.
