WESSON — Less than 24 hours after losing to West Lincoln 3-2 despite having 10 hits, the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs came out focused and ready to play against the Wesson Lady Cobras.

Franklin County also came out ready to take its frustrations from Friday afternoon’s close loss to Wesson Saturday morning. Mission accomplished. The Lady Bulldogs ended up with an astounding 24 hits in a 15-3 win over the Lady Cobras in five innings.

“They hit the ball excellent today. Pitching looked exactly the same,” Franklin County head coach Dana Smith said. “I don’t know where the mentality came from. We left the bases loaded one inning.”

Franklin County (3-2) and Wesson were tied at 1-1 at the end of the first inning and the Lady Bulldogs led by just one run, 2-1, going into the fourth inning. It was in the top half of that inning when visiting team took control with six runs for an 8-1 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs then put the game completely out of reach with a seven-run scoring spree in the top of the fifth. The Lady Cobras tried to rally in the bottom of the fifth to extend the game, but they could only score two runs.

Courtney Reid went 4-for-4, Kristin Oglesby was 3-for-4 with two triples, Monea Cameron was 3-for-4 with a triple and Heather Stewart was 2-for-3 with a double for Franklin County.
