MEADVILLE — Shaniquia Cameron’s bases-loaded single with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning brought in Courtney Reid with the game-winning run as Franklin County rallied to defeat Richland 7-6 Tuesday night in Region 6-3A action.

Cameron’s game-winning hit capped an amazing comeback win by the Lady Dawgs, who at one point trailed the Lady Rangers 5-1 after just an inning and a half.

“We left 20 runners on base,” Franklin County head coach Dana Smith said. “We had four innings where we left the bases loaded.”

With one out, winning pitcher Heather Havard doubled and went to third on a double by Reid. Richland pitcher Brittany Roff intentionally walked Destiney Dedeaux to load the bases.

Roff was hoping to get Taylor Stewart to hit into a possible game-ending double play that would have given the Lady Rangers a 6-5 win. Instead, she walked Taylor Stewart and Havard scored the game-tying run.

It didn’t look like this game would have a chance to go into extra innings. Richland scored three runs in the top of the first inning and two more in the top of the second. In between, Franklin County (8-5, 2-1) scored one run in the bottom of the first, but left the bases loaded — something the Lady Dawgs also did in the bottom of the third, fourth and sixth innings.

Franklin County finished with 21 hits and was led by Kristen Oglesby, who went 5-for-5, Kacey Smith, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, and Monea Cameron, who was 3-for-5 with a double.
