Mary Mitchell announces the engagement of her daughter, Debra Smith to Joseph Plater, son of the late Robert Plater and the late Mary Genes, all of Natchez.

The bride-to-be is also the daughter of the late Alfred Smith Sr. of Woodville.

She is a graduate of South Natchez High School and a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez. She is self-employed.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of North Natchez High School and is employed by Wright Logging in Natchez.

The wedding will be at 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Greater New Zion Baptist Church in Natchez.

A reception will follow at Reflections Community Center.
