Almost 40 qualify for parish races

VIDALIA — When qualifying ended Thursday, more than 35 candidates had placed their names for official consideration in the 17 parish-level races.
At the close of office hours Thursday, the Concordia Parish Clerk of Court’s Office reported the following candidates had qualified:
For the 32nd (state) senatorial district: Bryant Hammett Jr., of Ferriday, Neil Riser, of Columbia and Michael Trent, of Clarks.
For the 34th (state) senatorial district: Paxton J. Branch, of Tallulah, Ralph L. Durr, of Epps, Willie Hunter Jr., of Monroe and Francis Thompson, of Delhi.
For the 21st (state) representative district: Andy Anders, of Clayton, C. Travis Johnson, of Ferriday, Richard Madison, of Ferriday and Moses J. Williams, of Tallulah.
For sheriff: Glenn Lipsey, of Monterey and Randy Maxwell, of Ferriday.
For clerk of court: Justin L. Conner, of Ferriday and Clyde Ray Webber Jr., of Vidalia.
For assessor: Monelle Moseley, of Vidalia.
For police juror district 1 place A: Carey H. Cook, of Ferriday, Costa Pryor, of Ferriday and William Jerome Singleton, of Ferriday.
For police juror district 1 place B: Barbara DePrato, of Ferriday, Joe “Bear” Parker, of Clayton, Rydell Turner, of Clayton.
For police juror, district 2: Willie Dunbar, of Vidalia and Carter Warner, of Vidalia.
For police juror district 3 place A: Randy Temple, of Vidalia.
For police juror district 3 place B: Bartell Schneider, of Vidalia and Whest Shirley, of Vidalia.
For police juror district 4 place A: Elijah “Stepper’s” Banks, of Ferriday, Jerry Beatty, of Ferriday, Irene Collins, of Ferriday and Cathy Darden, of Ferriday.
For police juror district 4 place B: Chris Cothern, of Vidalia and Melvin Ferrington, of Ferriday.
For police juror district 5A: Jimmy Jernigan, of Jonesville and Joe Scott, of Ferriday.
For police juror district 5B: “Tim” Charrier, of Acme and Tommy “Red” Tiffee, of Monterey.
For the school board district 3 place B special election: “Deanie” Roberts, of Vidalia.
For coroner: Sarah Lee, of Ferriday.
