HATTIESBURG (AP) — A University of Southern Mississippi student has been indicted on charges of posting threats on the Internet.

Yuri Wainwright, 26, was arrested in April, days after the deadly shootings at Virginia Tech.

Investigators have alleged that Wainwright posted threats through MySpace, a popular Web site that allows users to communicate through blog posts, comments, e-mails and instant messages.

District Attorney Jon Mark Weathers said he couldn’t discuss details of the case, but said that a grand jury returned the indictment in August, according to a www.hattiesburgamerican.com article.

Wainwright, who is being held in the Lamar County Jail on $1 million bond, was served this week, Weathers said Thursday.

If convicted, Wainwright could be sentenced to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
