ferriday — The Ferriday Trojans will get another test this week when they travel to Jena.

“Jena is just another test for us,” Ferriday head coach Freddie Harrison said. “They are just like every other team in that aspect.”

Harrison said he wasn’t sure how Jena planned on defending the Trojans.

“We are a balanced team,” Harrison said. “If you look at the stats, our running back Matthew Smith has 15-18 rushes and our quarterback Kendrick Harris has 15-18 pass attempts.”

Harrison said Jena is a good running team.

“The defense has to play good fundamental football,” Harrison said. “We’re not going to take them lightly.”

Ferriday has gotten off to a 3-0 start this season. Harrison credits the start to his players coming together and believing in the system.

“They believe in the things we tell them,” Harrison said. “We still have things to work on but we are coming together and focused on playing football.”

Harrison did say there were some safety concerns on going to Jena this week from parents with the rally for the “Jena Six” going on.

“I want everyone to know that we are going to Jena Friday night,” Harrison said. “We have a job to do and that is play football.”

Game time is set for 7 p.m.
