NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School saw its postseason hopes eliminated as it lost in a 42-7 blowout at Brookhaven Academy Friday night.
The Rebels were down quickly 26-0 after the first quarter, and ACCS managed only one touchdown in the second quarter off a 40-yard run by Lester Wells.
Head coach Hunter McKeivier said Brookhaven Academy used a balanced attack on offense to move the ball on the Rebels.
“Offensively, we didn’t move the ball very well, and defensively, they were able to both run and pass with success,” McKeivier said.
“They kept us off balance and did a great job (offensively). When we’d try to load the box and stop the run, they were able to pass it, and when we tried to stop the pass, they were able to run it. It was a two-headed monster.”
Wells had nine carries for 52 yards, while Christopher Perry had nine carries for 36 yards. Brandon Ross led defensively for ACCS with 13 tackles, and Garrett Keating had nine tackles and one forced fumble.
ACCS (1-9, 0-2) concludes its season at home next week against Columbia Academy, and McKeivier said his team will hopefully try to win one more for his seniors.
“We’ll tell them to keep their heads up and keep fighting,” McKeivier said. “We’ll try to end it with a bang for our seniors. They had a great career here at ACCS, and we’ll try to finish it out on a high note.”
