WATERPROOF — Graveside services for Eugene A. Drew Sr., 78, of Oakland, Calif., formerly of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Knapper Family Cemetery in Waterproof.

Arrangements are under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr., Drew was born July 12, 1933, in Natchez, the son of James Drew and Etta Walker. He was a father, grandfather, husband, companion, civil rights activist, labor relations specialist, businessman, party-goer and traveler. He was a man who used his talents to the fullest and gave his love, time, energy and efforts to and for his family.

Mr. Drew was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry and one sister, Mildred.

He will be missed by his companion of 36 years, Sandy; four sons, Eugene Jr., Jonathan, Musa and Joseph; one brother, James Drew and wife, Ruby, of Vidalia; daughter-in-law, Leila; four granddaughters, Faatima, Haley, Khadija and Maleah; two nieces, Claretta and her husband, James, and Bonnie and her husband, Larry; two nephews, Charles and Drew P. and his wife, Gloria, all of Natchez; and five cousins, Benny, Adolph, LouEthel, Helen and Hazel.
