Police search for shooting suspect

NATCHEZ — Natchez Chief of Police Mike Mullins said an arrest warrant has been issued for Anthony Haywood, 22, in connection to Friday’s shooting near the intersection of Claiborne and Grant streets.
Mullins confirmed that, Timothy Selmon 21, was shot once in the left leg.
Mullins also said that Selmon was originally taken to Natchez Community Hospital but was then moved to University Medical Center in Jackson.
Betty Minor, Selmon’s grandmother, said Selmon went into surgery around 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Minor said she was shocked to hear that her grandson had been shot.
“We drove all the way from Natchez to be with him,” she said.
As of Saturday afternoon Minor said she had no updates on Selmon’s condition.
While Mullins would not elaborate on any evidence that connected Haywood to the shooting but did say an arrest warrant has been issued.
“We are actively looking for him,” he said.
Selmon originally told police that he did not know who shot him.
Haywood’s last known address is 12 Abbott Street.
